Campers is a group exhibition that traces a distinctly Pacific Northwest lineage of artist-run spaces and DIY exhibition making. Drawing inspiration from alternative venues such as Pipsqueak, the Basement, and improvised sites beneath freeways throughout Seattle, the exhibition considers “camping” as a model for artistic practice: temporarily inhabiting overlooked spaces, adapting to their conditions, and moving on without permanence. Presented at the Georgetown Steam Plant, Campers brings together artists from the Northwest and beyond who share this spirit of rooted, itinerant DIY.
